Child molestation charge filed against Cartersville man

A 21-year-old Cartersville man is facing child molestation charges in Floyd County.

According to the arrest warrant:

Anthony Charles Odell Wilson pulled down the underwear of a child under the age of 16 and attempted to expose himself to the victim.

The incidents occurred between December 1 and March 11, according to the warrant.

Man charged with theft by converstion

A Cartersville man is accused of stealing a John Deere mini excavator valued at more than $34,000.

According to the arrest warrant:

30-year-old Justin Andrew Taylor rented the equipment from the Home Depot on Hicks Drive in Rome and was scheduled to return it on March 19.

Taylor then cut off communication with the store and refused to return the equipment.

He is charged with a felony count of theft by conversion.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

A 33-year-old Rome man was arrested during a traffic stop on South Broad Street at McGhee Street Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

A vehicle driven by Daniel Vonne Burge crossed the double yellow line.

He was then found with powder cocaine, multiple alprazolam pills, two glass smoking devices containing methamphetamine residue, a digital scale, and plastic baggies.

Burge is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule V controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of drugs not in the original container, possession of drug-related objects, failure to maintain a lane, and a probation violation.

Welfare check at grocery store leads to two arrests

Two people were arrested on drug charges Monday in the parking lot of a grocery store on Turner McCall Boulevard.

According to Floyd County Jail records and a Rome Police Department report:

Officers were dispatched to the store for a welfare check on a man who was slumped over in a vehicle in the parking lot.

When police woke 30-year-old Alexander Drew Osborne of Aragon, a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue fell from his lap onto the floor.

He was charged with possession of drug-related objects.

The owner of the vehicle, identified as 54-year-old Tonia Ridling Boone of Rome, was located in the store.

She was found with a vial of crystal meth, four pills, miscellaneous pipes, and cotton tips.

Boone is charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and failure to appear in court.

Man charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, obstruction

A Rome man arrested during a traffic stop on June 1 is facing additional charges.

According to Floyd County jail records:

31-year-old Nicholas Dimetrious Alexander Butts was found in possession of a firearm and attempted to assist in another suspect’s escape.

He is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and obstruction of officers.

Butts was initially arrested with two other men on Smith Road at Manning Lake Road after police found a stolen handgun, high-concentrated THC oil, and multiple packages of suspected marijuana.

The two other men arrested during that traffic stop, 28-year-old Trayron Marquez Bexley and 20-year-old Tahiri Durand Tolbert, have been charged in the shooting of a 27-year-old man on Brandon Lane.
