If you are not registered to vote and would like to cast a ballot in the Georgia Presidential Preference Primary, the registration deadline is Monday.

In order to register to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States, be a legal resident of the county, and be at least 17 and a half years of age to register and 18 years of age to vote.

You cannot register if you are serving a sentence for a felony conviction or have not been found mentally incompetent by a judge.

There are several ways to register, and you can get more information on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website.

The primary is March 12 with advance voting set to run from February 19 to March 8.

Floyd County elections officials will also begin issuing or mailing absentee ballots on Monday.
