The Floyd County Commission will consider a resolution regarding a special purpose, local option sales tax bond validation when it meets Tuesday night.

City and county officials are looking at the best way to move forward with the funding of the SPLOST projects approved this past November. They could either pay for them as the penny tax proceeds come in or they can do bond financing.

However, with interest rates where they are, now is not the best time to borrow money.

There could also be a combination of cash flow and bonds.

McCord suggested bonds may be the way to go when purchasing property.

Tuesday’s vote is just a procedural matter in case the county ends up wanting to do bonds.

However, no decisions have been made.

Also Monday, the Commission will consider door control and fire alarm replacements at the Floyd County Prison, as well as a new storage tank and water tanks, and gym renovations at the Blacks Bluff Road facility.

Also on the agenda is a pricing proposal from Harbor Services for $3.9 million for the Rome Emperor field house renovation project.

Commissioners will also vote on a contract for temporary clubhouse facilities for the 2024 baseball season as renovations to the current clubhouse are being completed.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. with the caucus starting at 3:30 on the second floor of the county administration building.
