Woman arrested for allegedly disrupting a school bus

An Armuchee woman is facing misdemeanor charges following an incident involving a Floyd County school bus back on September 24.

According to an arrest warrant:

47-year-old Angela Kay Settlemoir ran the school bus stop sign while a child was trying to unload.

Settlemoir then parked her vehicle in the path of the student’s walkway.

She got out of her vehicle, leaving it parked in the oncoming lane of traffic, and approached the school bus where she argued with the driver.

Settlemoir is charged with disrupting the operation of a school bus, passing a school bus while it is loading or unloading, aggressive driving, parking where prohibited, the wrong side of the roadway, and running a stop sign.

Man charged in September 27 hit-and-run

A 48-year-old Rome man is facing charges after allegedly striking a power pole with his vehicle on Boyd Valley Road last Thursday.

According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:

Anthony Eric Whiteside was impaired when the crash took place, breaking the power pole and leaving live electric wires suspended over the roadway near two houses.

Whiteside then fled the scene in his vehicle and hid in a brushy field off Pleasant Valley Road.

He admitted to taking medication before driving.

The estimated cost of the damage was listed at $1,200.

Whiteside is charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, hit and run, DUI, driving with a cracked or busted windshield, and failure to maintain a lane.

Man accused of kicking officer

An Adairsville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on charges of felony obstruction and criminal trespass – damage to property.

According to jail records:

39-year-old Chad Dylan Abrams caused around $40 in damage to the victim’s property and then resisted arrest, kicking an officer.

Man arrested for possession of MDMA

A West Rome man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop on Shorter Avenue Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

38-year-old Drake Montego Arnold was initially stopped for failure to maintain a lane.

The vehicle was searched following a K9 indication, and MDMA and two digital scales were seized.

Arnold is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug-related objects.

Man charged with obstruction at jail

An Atlanta man is facing a felony obstruction charge following an incident at the Floyd County Jail on Monday.

According to jail records:

33-year-old Travontae Marico Williams violently resisted a deputy while in an elevator.
