Floyd County Public Works is temporarily expanding its normal level of service so we can assist residents of Celanese Village with clean up after a severe storm toppled trees and damaged homes Thursday night.
Approximately ten trees fell on Thursday night and struck homes in the Celanese Village. Many more fell in yards and on fences and some pulled down power lines and blocked the roadways. Crews worked through the night to open roads, but vegetative debris was left in some areas.
Floyd County crews are assisting those in need with debris removal from the right of way. This service will be available for residents without property insurance who are unable to hire contractors for removal.
Floyd County Public Works will continue to monitor the area for several weeks to remove vegetative debris from the right of way. This courtesy excludes the removal of roofing materials as well as construction and demolition materials.
