Warrant: Man sold meth and fentanyl to undercover officer
A Cartersville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Wednesday on felony charges of trafficking both methamphetamine and fentanyl.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
35-year old Jorge Matilde Gonzalez sold more than 300 grams of meth and fentanyl to an undercover law enforcement officer back on April 17.
The report states that Gonzalez had over four grams of fentanyl.
Gonzalez is additionally charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, the sale of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession with the intent to distribute, and the sale of fentanyl.
Man arrested for aggravated assault facing additional charges
A man arrested on a felony aggravated assault charge after allegedly strangling a woman earlier this week is facing additional charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
28-year-old Foncuyon Y. Finley Jr. assaulted the victim in front of a child.
He also threw the victim’s cell phone, struck an interior closet door, broke a television set, and threw a wireless speaker.
Finley is now also charged with 3rd-degree cruelty to children, 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, and obstructing a person from making a 911 call.
Man accused of renting equipment and then selling it
A Buckhead man is accused of stealing a $1,500 piece of equipment from the Rome Home Depot on Hicks Drive in October of last year.
According to the arrest warrants:
54-year-old Derrick Orlando Mitchell rented the equipment and removed the wiring from the tracking system to keep it from being tracked.
Mitchell then sold the equipment.
He is charged with theft by taking, theft by conversion, and theft by deception.
Man charged with terroristic threats and acts
A 35-year-old Cartersville man is accused of threatening to kill a Rome man.
According to an arrest warrant:
Joshua Ryan Phillips called the victim and threatened to murder him.
The threat was recorded, and a witness verified that the voice on the recording was that of Phillips.
Warrant: Man stole firearm
A Cedartown man is accused of stealing a firearm from a Rome woman.
According to an arrest warrant:
41-year-old John Wesley Fain took a 9mm Taurus handgun between August 4 and December 10 of last year.
He is charged with theft by taking.
Report: Man ripped up citation during traffic stop
What began as a traffic stop for a hands-free violation ended with the arrest of a Carrollton man on a felony charge on Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 31-year-old Edgar Omar Terrell was stopped at Highway 53 and Highway 140 after he was seen holding his cell phone.
Terrell then refused multiple orders to keep his hand visible and then ripped up all five copies of the citation he’d been issued, throwing them out of his window.
Terrell is charged with a felony count of interference with government property, and misdemeanor counts of obstruction, distracted driving, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, driving without a license, and littering.
