Woman accused of setting fires

An East Rome woman is facing charges of 1st-degree arson and entering an automobile following her arrest on Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

39-year-old Hope Leann McAlee started fires in the bathroom and the bedroom of a residence on Agnes Street that was undergoing reconstruction.

The victim stated that McAlee had mentioned or threatened to set a fire three days earlier.

McAlee is also accused of entering a vehicle on McHenry Drive where she unscrewed the dash, exposing the wiring, in an attempt to start it.

She stated that her house had caught fire and she needed a car in order to get to her niece’s baptism.

Man charged with terroristic threats, criminal damage to property

A West Rome man was arrested Sunday at his Towers Drive home after allegedly threatening a woman between the dates of May 25 and June 3.

According to an arrest warrant:

42-year-old Demetrice Jermain Kennedy threatened to leave the victim in a parking lot and said he would not stop until she was dead.

A police officer was listening in when Kennedy threatened the woman over the phone.

He also sent the victim a text message stating that he would kill her at her job.

Kennedy is also accused of damaging or destroying property belonging to the victim, including two 65-inch television sets, a full-size mattress, and an iPhone.

He also threw groceries all over the victim’s apartment.

Kennedy is charged with terroristic threats and acts and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.

Report: Man bit sister, fought with police

A Calhoun man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges in Floyd County following his arrest at Highway 53 and Broadus Road.

According to jail records:

36-year old Michael Eugene Curtis bit his sister, removing a large chunk of skin from her back.

He then fought with police officers, causing an injury.

Curtis is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, four counts of felony obstruction, and pedestrian under the influence.

Inmate accused of hitting another inmate with a mop handle

An inmate at the Floyd County Jail is facing charges of unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution and battery following an incident on Saturday.

According to jail records:

22-year old Walter Bradley Kellogg hit another inmate with a mop handle, causing a cut to the man’s arm.

Kellogg has been in jail since April 28 following his arrest for a probation violation.

Man arrested during traffic stop

A Rising Fawn man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Sunday on drug charges.

According to jail records:

A vehicle driven by Zachary Ace Bryan was stopped by police for running the stop sign at Lombardy Way and Flannery Street.

During a consent search of the vehicle, officers located two clear, plastic bags sticking out of a wallet in the front seat.

One contained cocaine, the other contained suspected methamphetamine.

A pipe used to smoke meth was located in Bryan’s pants pocket.

He is charged with possession of meth, possession of cocaine, possession of drug-related objects, and a stop sign violation.

Man arrested for drug possession, criminal trespass

A North Rome man is facing drug charges following his arrest in the wooded area of off Iron and Carter Streets.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

44-year old Jesse Lamar Itson told police his name was “Randall” and was then found in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe while trespassing on Norfolk Southern Railroad property.

Itson is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, giving a false name or address to law enforcement, criminal trespass and a couple of probation violations.

Woman arrested on warrant charging her with meth possession

A 46-year old Silver Creek woman was arrested at her Rockmart Highway residence on Saturday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects.

According to an arrest warrant:

Mindy Lynn Roaderick was in possession of a baggie containing meth during a traffic stop on Maple Avenue at Flannery Street back on May 1.
