-Staff reports-

The 50th annual Cave Spring Arts Festival is this weekend at Rolater Park.

The event, featuring arts and food vendors, is Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

“They will have booths offering two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, along with food vensors,” said Kristi Kent with the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. “I have to say this event is very special to me because it actually introduced me to Cave Spring.”

While you are in Cave Spring, you can also go into the cave or take a cool dip in the purported 2nd largest “swimming hole” in Georgia.

“The kids love to play in the stream coming from the cave,” Kent added. “It’s also a great time to visit the downtown area, if you want to shop and enjoy the restaurants; it’s a great day for it. There is the two-story log cabin that belonged to Cherokee Avery Vann that you can go through, and there is usually someone there who can share the history.”

Also Saturday, the morning will begin with the 38th annual Cave Spring 5K and one mile fun run and walk.

The 5K starts at 8:15 a.m. with the health walk and one mile run beginning at 8:25 a.m.
