Knights of Columbus Labor Day BBQ on Monday

Labor Day and BBQ go hand in hand, and on Monday, the Knights of Columbus will hold its 57th Labor Day Barbecue at the Rome Civic Center on Jackson Hill.

Menu items include barbecue pork, barbecue beef, Brunswick stew, chicken, ribs, carnitas, and baked beans.

Indoor dining is also available with plates selling for $12 each and featuring your choice of pork, beef, chicken, or carnitas with baked beans, coleslaw, bread, chips, tea, or lemonade.

The civic center doors and the drive-through lane open at 10 a.m. on Labor Day and continue until 2 p.m. or until they sell out. Credit cards, checks, and cash will be accepted at the civic center.

The Knights are preparing roughly 700 pounds of pork, 200 pounds of beef, 150 half chickens, 275 half racks of ribs, 550 quarts of Brunswick stew, and 150 quarts of baked beans. 

All proceeds are returned to Rome. The Knights have donated $325,000 to date, including Haven Health Clinic, Mercy Senior Care, Habitat for Humanity, Aid to Veterans, Network Day Services, Coats for Kids, Special Olympics, Rome Community Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, and others.
