Man charged with statutory rape

An Adairsville man was recently booked into the Floyd County Jail on a felony warrant charging him with statutory rape.

According to the warrant:

22-year-old Kameron Latrell Thrash had sex with a female who is under the age of 16 on two occasions.

The incidents occurred between May 1 and August 15 at a location in Silver Creek.

Man accused of failing to register as a sex offender, also charged with meth possession

A 65-year-old Rome man is facing drug charges following his arrest at a location on Shorter Avenue.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Alford Eugene Reed was found with methamphetamine and a glass pipe during a search.

When asked if he had any more, Reed stated he did not.

However, once at the jail, more meth was found in the floorboard of the patrol vehicle and it appeared as though it had been stomped on in an attempt to destroy it.

Reed is charged with possession of meth, possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail, possession of drug-related objects, and tampering with evidence.

He is also charged with violating Georgia’s Sex Offender Registry law.

According to the arrest warrant:

Reed listed a false address with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

He had been convicted of rape and kidnapping in Alabama back in 1983.

Woman accused of helping wanted man avoid capture

A 51-year-old Rome woman is facing a felony count of hindering apprehension.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Amanda Louise Terry allowed an individual with felony warrants to use her residence on Wyatt Street to avoid capture.

Man charged with theft by deception

A Rome man was recently arrested at his Dwyatt Street home on a felony warrant charging him with theft by deception.

According to the warrant:

46-year-old Jason Edward Buffington contacted a junk vehicle removal service on September 14 in order to sell a Ford Bronco that was located on Warren Road.

The vehicle did not belong to Buffington and he used deceitful means to get $600 for it.

The Bronco is a vintage 1979 model, valued at $10,000.

Buffington is also being held for a probation violation.
