Man accused of assaulting woman back in September
A North Rome man has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, battery, and 1st-degree criminal damage to property following an incident on September 12 on Heathrow Drive.
According to the arrest warrants:
33-year-old Benjamin Douglas Lovingood Jr. grabbed a woman around the neck and choked her.
He also hit the victim in the head, cut two wires on her vehicle, and would not let her leave the house.
Lovingood took the woman’s phone away as she was trying to call for help, resulting in an additional charge of obstructing a person making a 911 call.
Report: Inmate found with makeshift weapons
An inmate at the Floyd County Jail is facing charges after he was reportedly found with two makeshift weapons.
According to jail records:
The weapons were made from a pair of eyeglasses and could have been used to injure others.
68-year-old David Thomas Messick is charged with possession of items prohibited for inmates and possession of a weapon by an inmate.
