Friday afternoon, members of the community gathered to celebrate the opening of the new North STARS Playground on North Broad Street.

The project was funded through the 2017 SPLOST package, which supported playground and recreation improvements in the North Broad area.

After a property swap and demolition of the old Jennings Funeral Home site, the new playground now sits beside the North Broad Youth Center’s updated location at Greater Refuge Ministries.

In the WRGA video above, the center’s director, Terri Mayes, says the space represents a promise finally fulfilled.
