Man who crashed his motorcycle while fleeing from police arrested
A Garden Lakes man accused of fleeing from police at 100 miles per hour on a motorcycle on September 4 was booked into the Floyd County Jail late last week.
According to an arrest warrant:
30-year-old Calvin Mander Lowe ran the red light at Lavender and John Davenport Drive.
As an officer tried to initiate a traffic stop, Lowe accelerated north on Lavender, traveling recklessly on the wrong side of the road, before crashing into an SUV at Redmond Circle.
Lowe was thrown from his motorcycle.
He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, wrong side of the road, improper passing, failure to obey a traffic control device, too fast for conditions, driving while unlicensed, and no insurance.
Report: Man wrecks while fleeing from police on Calhoun Road
An Adairsville man was jailed Thursday on a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
41-year-old Alan Jack Murphy failed to pull over for a traffic stop.
He ran the stop sign at Burlington Road and Calhoun Road and accelerated to 100 in a 55-mile-per-hour zone, driving on the wrong side of Calhoun Road.
He passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed before crashing in a curve and fleeing on foot.
Murphy is additionally charged with misdemeanor obstruction, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, reckless driving, too fast for conditions, driving with a suspended license, failure to maintain a lane, driving on the wrong side of the road, and a stop sign violation.
Man charged with theft by deception
A Rome man arrested in late September in the thefts of open helix wire at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport is facing an additional charge of theft by deception.
According to the arrest warrant:
38-year-old Roger Dewayne Callahan sold the wire, valued at $4,500, at a local scrap yard, costing the business $1,500.
Report: Inmate charged after head-butting incident
An inmate at the Floyd County Jail is facing charges after she allegedly head-butted another inmate:
According to jail records:
45-year-old Samantha Ann Harvey is charged with acts of violence in a penal institution and simple battery in the incident that occurred on Wednesday.
She has been in jail since her arrest on August 12 on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a probation violation.
