Charges have been filed in a crash on Highway 101 on Sunday that left a bicyclist with serious injuries.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

56-year-old Velta Yvonne Rule failed to maintain her lane, traveling across the white line and striking the bicyclist, who sustained a broken hip, a concussion, and a possible brain bleed.

She then fled the scene, and when she was later located, she was determined to be impaired.

Rule is charged with a felony count of serious injury by vehicle, and misdemeanor counts of DUI, hit and run, and failure to maintain a lane.
