A community planning meeting was hosted at 1:30pm Thursday afternoon to hear input from local communities on possible improvements to the area as well as public sentiment to further development of the Burwell Creek/Highway 53/North Broad Street area.
Principal at Mosaic Community Planning, Mr. Jeremy Gray led the meeting on behalf of his client, Matt Stovall of Marietta. Mr. Gray gathered public input for a proposed tax credit within the area.
The meeting was attended almost wholly by the Homeowners Association of the North Pointe housing community, a primarily 55 and up community located inside the proposed tax credit area. They brought up potential issues and concerns with the further development of the area and voiced current issues within the area. Some of the concerns that were brought up were maintenance of public spaces and sidewalks, private equity entering into the area, how the development would affect safety in the area, as well as other concerns.
New resident of North Pointe, Missy Shepherd, urged the developers and the city to “realize what we have here”.
The property has is owned by a housing development company, so a housing development can be expected in the area in the future.
