Man charged with impersonating a police officer
A Sherwood Forest man was arrested over the weekend on Cartersville Highway near the East Rome Walmart on a felony count of impersonating a police officer.
According to Floyd County Jail Records:
63-year-old Randy E. Love obstructed a wreck investigation by interrupting.
He claimed to be a “cop” with the “Cherokee County Multi-agency Task Force.”
Love was acting in a tumultuous manner and pulled his hand back into a fist as he was being placed into custody.
He is also charged with disorderly conduct and misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement.
Man accused of strangling woman
A Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated assault.
According to the warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
23-year-old Dravus Chaise Christian Dupree strangled a woman by putting his hands around her neck.
The incident occurred on August 19 at an apartment on Lyons Drive in West Rome.
Dupree also punched and hit the victim, and prevented her from leaving, resulting in additional charges of battery and false imprisonment.
Additional charge for man accused of terrorizing teen
A 21-year-old North Rome man arrested last week on harges of attempted rape, 1st-degree burglary, and being a peeping Tom is facing an additional charge of terroristic threats and acts.
According to the arrest warrant:
John Derrick Turner III threatened a 14-year-old female via Snapchat.
The message was sent to a friend of the victim.
Turner had previously entered the victim’s bedroom while she was sleeping.
He then sent a text message indicating that he would return and rape the victim.
Two charged with felony shoplifting
Two Atlanta women were arrested following an alleged shoplifting incident at T. J. Maxx on Turner Mccall Boulevard.
According to Floyd County Jail Records:
33-year-old Arkeshia Denise Tigner and 32-year-old Jasmine Nicole Johnson attempted to steal clothing valued at $736.43.
Tigner has been charged with felony theft by shoplifting, giving a false name and date of birth, driving without a license, conspiracy to commit a felony, and second degree cruelty to children.
Johnson is charged with felony shoplifting and fugitive from justice, as she is being sought by authorities in Tennessee.
Man charged with meth possession
A Garden Lakes man was arrested over the weekend for possession of methamphetamine following a wreck on Highway 27 North at Dugger Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
40-year-old Joseph Emery Baldwin caused the crash by pulling out in front of another vehicle.
Baldwin has a busted windshield, and his vehicle was unregistered.
He was then found in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
