Man accused of crashing stolen vehicle while fleeing from police
A West Rome man was jailed over the weekend on felony counts of fleeing or attempting to elude, theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
19-year-old Christopher Paxtor Perez crashed a stolen 2013 Toyota Scion into a utility pole at a motel on Dean Avenue while trying to elude police.
He was in possession of a Glock 19 with a laser sight and an extended magazine at the time.
Perez is additionally charged with reckless driving, too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane, DUI, obstruction of officers and duty upon striking a fixture.
Man accused of fighting with police
An East Rome man is facing both felony and misdemeanor counts of obstruction of law enforcement following his arrest on Sunday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
35-year-old Kevin Von Clifton resisted and fought with officers, causing physical harm to one of them at a location on Dodd Boulevard.
He was at the address after having previously been banned from the property.
He also used profane language in front of children and threatened to kick a juvenile in the face.
Clifton is additionally charged with terroristic threats and acts, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, and battery.
Report: Man slapped police officer
A Rome man was arrested on Saturday following an incident on Civic Center Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
25-year-old Jamar Dwayne Roberts slapped an officer and resisted arrest.
He appeared to be intoxicated, fought with another person, and used abusive and profane language.
Roberts is charged with felony and misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement, simple battery against a police officer, disorderly conduct, and public drunk.
Man charged with exploitation or intimidation of the elderly
A 33-year-old Rome man was arrested on Sunday at his Lakeridge Circle home on charges of exploitation or intimidation of the elderly and simple assault.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Bryan Edward Holland followed a 79-year-old man around, yelling at him, and saying, “What are you going to do?”
He also punched a hole in the wall in front of the victim.
Warrant: Man stole more than $3K from sporting goods store
A West Rome man is facing a felony theft by deception charge following his arrest over the weekend.
According to an arrest warrant:
25-year-old Usvaldo Guzman-Ambriz took $3,824 in cash from Hibbett Sports at Mt. Berry Mall by creating fictitious returns or receipts.
The incidents occurred between August 3 and August 21.
Man charged with meth possession
A Cartersville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Brandon Taylor Jones was found with several individually packaged bags of suspected methamphetamine at a location on Government Plaza in Rome.
He had a straw in his hand, and tin foil with residue was located in his vehicle, along with a scale, a controlled substance not in the original container, a rifle and a handgun.
Jones is charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drugs not in the original container, possession of drug-related objects, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Man arrested during traffic stop
A traffic stop on Highway 53 at the connector ended with the arrest of a Warner Robins man over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 61-year-old Cedric Bernard Spivey Jr. was stopped for a brake light violation.
Following a K9 indication, a marijuana cigarette and THC gummies were located in the vehicle.
Spivey is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and standards for brake lights and signal devices.
Drug charges filed following wreck in West Rome
A Kennesaw man and a Bremen woman were arrested on drug charges following a wreck on Burnett Ferry Road at Shorter Avenue on Saturday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
30-year-old Jesse Michael Francis Samaha appeared to be under the influence when he left his lane of travel, causing the crash.
Suspected fentanyl was located in the vehicle.
Samaha and 46-year-old Freda Jean Turner are both charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Woman accused of having marijuana at jail
A West Rome woman, initially arrested on a simple battery charge, is also facing a felony count of possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
35-year-old Carrie Monique Allen punched a man in the face on Dean Avenue.
She was then found with suspected marijuana by jail staff.
Allen is additionally charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
