Report: Man tried to run over police officers and claimed to be in the CIA
A man from Columbus, Ohio, was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Monday on multiple charges including fleeing or attempting to elude, two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, and impersonating an officer.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
42-year-old Kenneth Maurice Cortledge got in his vehicle and fled from a traffic stop on Mt. Alto Road, and attempted to run over two officers.
Cortledge also stated several times that he was with the CIA and was going to arrest all of the officers at the scene.
He was found with a small amount of marijuana and a meth pipe.
Cortledge is additionally charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, five counts of misdemeanor obstruction, reckless driving, speeding, failure to obey traffic control devices, a stop sign violation, failure to maintain a lane, driving without insurance, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and no tag light.
Man charged with child molestation, child cruelty
A Rome man has been arrested on felony warrants charging him with two counts of child molestation and one count of 1st-degree cruelty to children.
According to the warrants:
59-year-old Thomas David Pruitt molested a female under the age of 16 at his Coral Avenue residence between June 1 and August 31, 2024.
The victim pushed Brewer and fell to the floor.
She then fled the room to get away.
Man accused of breaking woman’s nose
A West Rome man is facing a felony count of aggravated battery following his arrest on Monday.
According to the arrest warrant:
44-year-old Eric Harlan Brewer punched a woman in the face, breaking her nose.
The incident occurred on September 29 at a residence on Burnett Ferry Road.
Brewer is also being held on a probation violation.
Two charged with theft, exploitation of the elderly
Two East Rome residents are accused of stealing over a hundred thousand dollars from an elderly woman.
According to the arrest warrants:
44-year-old Katherine Lea Mull and 44-year-old John Adam Mull withdrew money from a 72-year-old woman’s account without her knowledge or consent.
They then spent the funds, totaling $123,345.68, at multiple locations between January 1, 2022, and April 20, 2025.
Both Mulls are charged with felony theft by taking and exploitation of the elderly.
