Emergency Services Expo this Saturday

Wednesday, June 18, 2025–10:00 a.m.

-Staff reports-

This coming weekend, area residents can learn more about the agencies that keep us safe during an Emergency Services Expo.

The event is scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the East Rome Walmart.

“We, as an EMA, are going to be giving away weather radios to folks who live in Floyd County,” said Chris Fincher with Floyd County Emergency Management. “One per family, we would request that. We don’t want folks coming in and getting six and seven at a time. So, please limit one per household, and we would like for it to be Floyd County residents.”

Attendees will also have the chance to help out the Explorers program.

“Jandy’s is going to be with us, helping us with some fundraising,” Fincher said. “The money will go towards our Explorer unit. Our Explorers are ages 14 to 20, and they are kids that have an interest in service and public safety. They want to help out. We want to grow the program. I would like to double the enrollment we had last year and get it to about 20 kids this year.”

As you may remember, it was originally scheduled for May 10, but had to be postponed due to rain.
