Man arrested following text messages with undercover detective
A man from Bethlehem, Georgia, was recently booked into the Floyd County Jail on a felony warrant charging him with obscene internet contact with a child.
According to the warrant:
54-year-old Kenneth Stephens Ray sent obscene test messages to an undercover detective who was posing as a 14-year-old girl back in April.
He also sent pornographic images to the detective, resulting in a couple of misdemeanor counts of furnishing obscene materials to a minor.
Man accused of giving a firearm to a convicted felon
A 79-year-old Kingston man is accused of providing a firearm to a convicted felon.
According to the arrest warrant:
Melvin Eugene Casey Jr. knew that 19-year-old Heath Christian Casey had been convicted of a felony.
The elder Casey was arrested at his Youngs Mill Road residence and charged with transferring a firearm to someone other than the actual buyer.
Meanwhile, the younger Casey is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Man charged with hijacking a motor vehicle
A Plymouth, Massachusetts, man who was recently arrested for the theft of a 2020 Dodge Ram is facing additional charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
53-year-old Michael Scott Gilmore entered the pickup, confronted the driver, and then drove off with the woman still inside.
Gilmore, who was originally charged with theft by taking, is now also charged with hijacking a motor vehicle and entering an automobile.
Man charged in entering auto incident dating back to 2024
A homeless man was recently jailed on four counts of entering an automobile and criminal trespass.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
69-year-old Joel William Goldin Jr. entered an unlocked Volkswagen on Martha Berry Boulevard on March 28, 2024.
He also entered three other vehicles on the lot of an automobile dealership and attempted to steal a 2019 Ford F-150 that had the keys in the ignition.
Goldin left blood stains in all four vehicles.
Man charged with meth possession
A Garden Lakes man who was reportedly located in a house that had previously been condemned is facing drug charges.
According to Floyd County jail records:
58-year-old Garey Keith Dempsey was in possession of methamphetamine, glass pipes, and a digital scale.
He is charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, criminal trespass, and failure to appear.
Man accused of aggravated stalikng, property damage
A Rome man has been arrested on felony charges of aggravated stalking and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
41-year-old Stephen John Palazzi II violated a conditional bond by having face-to-face contact with a woman on Paris Drive.
He also damaged a Starlink satellite belonging to the victim.
