The Floyd County Commission will hear an update regarding the state of its finances when it meets on Tuesday.
A representative from Mauldin & Jenkins will present the 2025 fiscal year audit during the county commission meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Floyd County Administration building on Fourth Avenue.
Also on the agenda is a request from Public Works to approve a proposal for geotechnical design and soil-cement design from Ahlberg Engineering for the Foster’s Bend Road rehabilitation project, and a budget transfer for Runway 1/19 localizer repairs at the airport.
There is a resolution providing for the issuance and sale of a tax anticipation note in the principal amount of $8,100,000 and for other related purposes, and there will also be a proclamation read for the Exchange Club.
The consent agenda includes several items:
- Consider request from the Police Department to purchase Safe Fleet Video Redaction subscription software for use in responding to Open Records Requests of Police In-car and Body Worn Camera footage. The first year cost of the subscription is $3,303.00 with subsequent year renewals (years 2-5) costing $3,108.00 annually. This will require an increase to the 2026 Police Department Data Processing Budget (100454-53700) of $3,305.00.
- Consider request to approve the renewal of contract with Georgia Northwestern Technical College for hangar lease.
- Consider request from Finance to approve an increase to the Sheriff’s Office Repairs & Maintenance budget (100441-52200) by $484,150 per the attached Chattooga County MOU with the Sheriff’s Office.
- Consider request from Finance to approve the Tangible Personal Property Form as required for grant closeout on the Public Safety and Community Violence Reduction Act grant. The performance period on this grant ends October 31, 2026, and no personal property over the $10,000 threshold will be purchased with grant funds.
- Consider request from Purchasing to deem a Doosan forklift as surplus to be auctioned on GovDeals.com. The Public Works Department has recently purchased a new one to replace this Forklift. The forklift has too many issues to offer to another department within the County.
- Consider request from IT to approve the annual computer lease agreement with Ontario Equipment Schedule No. L10294. The lease is $143,327.28 and will come from GL Account # 330533 – 55305. No budget change is needed.
- Consider request from Finance to approve the Adult Felony Drug Court grant #AW-ACFP-27-034 for the period 7/1/2026-6/30/2027. This grant will provide federal funds in the amount of $345,885 and will require a local match of $61,039 to be paid with DATE Funds. This will not require a change to the budget.
- Consider request from Finance to approve the Mental Health Court grant #AW- ACFP-27-080 for the period 7/1/2026-6/30/2027. This grant will provide federal funds in the amount of $230,301 and will require a local match of $40,641 to be paid with DATE Funds. This will not require a change to the budget.
- Consider request from Emergency Management Agency to apply for the COPS Technology and Equipment Program. This program is linked to a Congressional allocation of $1.73 million for the Floyd County Communications Improvement Strategy, which was signed into law by the President in January 2026.
During the caucus, the commission will hear from Doug Walker with the Rome Rotary Club regarding a Cherokee Nation Memorial project.
The caucus starts at 4 p.m.
