Woman accused of assaulting man with a baseball bat
A Rome woman was arrested at her Cliffview Drive apartment on felony counts of aggravated assault and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
18-year-old Wynter Esreal Vega Melendez swung two separate baseball bats at the father of her child, striking the victim on the left forearm, causing visible swelling and a knot.
She also took the bat and used it to smash the windshield of the victim’s car.
There was already a warrant out for Melendez, charging her with battery against the same victim.
According to that warrant:
Melendez bit the man on the left forearm, leaving a bruise, back on May 9.
Woman charged with aggravated assault, child cruelty
A Cedartown woman is accused of assaulting another person in the presence of five children.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
35-year-old Amiah Latrae Barnett used her hands to strangle a 60-year-old family member to the point where the victim could not breathe.
The incident occurred on July 9 at an apartment at Etowah Terrace in Rome.
Barnett is charged with aggravated assault and five counts of 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
Three arrested on drug charges
The execution of a knock-and-announce search warrant at an apartment on Dodd Boulevard ended with the arrest of three people on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force Officers located approximately 3 and a half ounces of marijuana, digital scales and packaging materials.
26-year-old Jordan Jadai Jamal Glanton, 43-year-old Tamara Mechel Glanton, and 34-year-old Evan Blake Lewis are all charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.
Man accused of threatening another man
A Cartersville man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with terroristic threats and acts.
According to the warrant:
32-year-old Devon Jaleel Booker stated he was going to fire on a Rome man, which is an informal way of saying he was going to use a firearm to harm the victim.
The incident occurred on July 14.
Woman accused of stealing vehicle
A 45-year-old Silver Creek woman is facing a felony theft by taking charge following her arrest over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Amanda Nicole Carver was found in possession of a stolen Cadillac Escalade at a location on Mountain View Road.
Carver was arrested, and the vehicle was recovered by police.
Man charged with meth possession
A homeless man was arrested over the weekend on a methamphetamine possession charge.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
60-year-old Kenneth Lee Fowler was found with suspected meth in his left hip pocket at a location on Avenue E in Shannon.
