The Rome Police Department is reporting that crimes against persons and property crimes were down through the first six months of the year when compared to the same time last year.
Crimes against persons include murder, aggravated assault, rape, kidnapping, and human trafficking.
There were 575 such offenses through June in the City of Rome, down 19 percent from June of 2025.
The city has seen two murders this year—one in April and one in May.
Meanwhile, property crimes, which include arson, theft, burglary and robbery, were down by 25 percent.
However, crimes against society were up by 4 percent from the same time a year ago.
Those offenses include narcotics violations, animal cruelty, and DUI.
Arrests were down by 25 percent from June, 2025 when compared to June, 2026.
